FA’s been working hard!

November 29, 2010

After the launch party success, Fallen Arrows has been skipping along to the beat. With much more new business and support, we have moved the working gnomes into the printing room!

We are happy to announce that we have picked up the printing for Commn Threadz. Haven’t heard about them? Well now you will! Common Threadz is a non profit company that is aiding orphans and vulnerable children in developing nations to reach their full potential through the empowerment of the children, their caretakers and the local grass roots community organizations that support them. The limited-edition, high quality apparel comes from the results of many people getting together to donate their expertise in design, advertising, PR and much more to make their company happen. A purchase from www.commonthreadz.org will benefit a child in several different ways. Depending on what you purchase, you could either buy an orphan a new school uniform in South Africa, or you can end up feeding an orphan for one month. There are many cool designs to flip through. You’ll be rocking new threadz while helping a child out! How’s that sound! That sang through the Fallen Arrows ears, so we are happy to print these out for this movement. Jump on the band wagon! Want to give back? Shop to help!! We all like the sound of that.

The little gnomes have also been helping us gear up for Brooklyn’s own Wink Wink Pony as well! We have been printing super super cute stuff for them. Keep those babies fresh! Get them some cute gear!

Remember……keep it local keep it great! Let’s make a huge dent in helping the world!

ATTENTION ARTISTS AND GALLERISTS!

October 4, 2010

You know how we love to stir it up! We have opened the doors and are inviting like-minded Gallerists to represent an artist in creating an original design that incorporates the Fallen Arrows logo with their Galleries logo. Fallen Arrows will print the design on American Apparel tees and sell them at the Fallen Arrows launch party on November 5.

The Gallery and the Artist will keep 100% of the proceeds made. There will be photo-shoots at your gallery to promote the Artist and the Gallery. The photos will be published in a Look Book and be hung at the launch party to show them off. Not bad huh? This is a time where we can reach out and support artists by providing ways to make Art more sell-able. To all you Artist, I think it’s that time to pull out a clean sheet and get to work. Deadline for art will be October 15, 2010. Galleries participating so far are Mint Gallery, Dashboard Co-op, Wonderroot, Youngblood, Beep Beep, Emily Amy, and many more. With these names in mind so far….it is going to be an incredible night!

Please contact us prior to October 15, 2010 if you have any questions!

going Madd for Bananaz

October 4, 2010

You know how we love Art and Music, so let’s give a huge Big Up and a vote to Madd Bananaz for entering this design to the “So Far To Go” International J Dilla tribute art contest. It’s a contest for a cause. The winner’s artwork will be produced as a poster and limited edition Giclee print series signed by the artist Chris Cooper from Madd Bananaz and J Dilla’s mother. All proceeds will go to the J Dilla Foundation which is a great non-profit organization that helps to fund inner-city music programs and provide scholarships to students attending schools that have progressive music curriculum. For those of you who need a little introduction to J Dilla, well….let’s say…his music is still alive and kickin’. Before he was a member of Slum Village, he worked closely and produced hits for Common, Erykah Badu, The Pharcyde, and of course De La Soul ( don’t miss the Fallen Arrows launch party with Maseo from De La Soul Nov. 5 at the Fallen Arrows HQ).

With the help of our own Rachael Spiewak from the FA crew, she approached Mad Bananaz about producing a J Dilla tribute shirt back in March, and this is what Chris Cooper came up with. J Dilla’s face impacted with a collage of his most influential album covers. When you get the chance, go to www.art4dilla.com/entry/62 and vote for this artwork in the So Far To Go J Dilla tribute Art Contest. You can also purchase a tee by contacting Madd Bananaz at www.maddbananaz.com. $5.00 from every shirt sold will go to the Alliance for Lupus research in J Dilla’s honor! Go get you one!

Dolphin Killerz

September 14, 2010

Who would want to hurt a dolphin? Can FA take a moment here to tell you about Taiji, Wakayama, Japan, aka “the little town with a big secret”. By now, most of you should know about what happens here, but for some of you that don’t, this little town is known for the brutal slaughtering of dolphins. Sweet, smart, innocent DOLPHINS! Every year starting on September 1, fisherman are responsible for catching over 20,000 innocent dolphins, selling off the attractive ones (mainly Bottlenose dolphins), and then brutally stabbing and slaughtering the remaining dolphins to death turning the ocean a horrific RED.

How can these people have the right to do this? They don’t own these dolphins! They sell the ‘good looking’ dolphins for over $150,000 a piece to marine parks and aquariums, then they kill all the other dolphins, package the meat, disguise it as whale meat and sell it in local grocery stores. At one point, they were serving   dolphin meat to children in schools, but that was stopped in 2006. So what are they doing with ALL that dolphin meat now? Dolphin meat is a huge NO NO, the people of Taiji know this. It carries dangerous levels of mercury.

Ric O’Barry, the guy responsible for training Flipper now turned dolphin activist, has been spending his life trying to save any and every dolphin that he can. After being arrested numerous times and being threatened heavily by right wing pro-whaling groups in Japan, he now turns his attention to the media to help teach people around the world about this “barbaric dolphin slaughter”. On September 2, 2010, O’Barry delivered a petition with over 1.7 million signatures representing 155 nations to the US embassy in Tokyo. The people of Japan had no idea this was happening in their own country. WAZA (World Association for zoos and aquariums) is connected to the Japanese dolphin slaughter and this massacre will continue for as long as we keep paying to go to the zoo or places like Sea World and Aquariums to see dolphins. The more money they make, the more trips they will take to go to these dolphin killing grounds to pick their prized dolphins.

There are many ways to support and stay in tune with what happens to the lives of dolphins. You can text the word DOLPHIN to 44144, to keep you updated on what’s happening. FA understands that there are many other animals out there as well that need help, but watching the movie “The Cove” was kinda heart breaking. We want to make this aware to all of our fans as well. Maybe someone around here could come up with a great tee design so we can help Ric O’Barry campaign against this war on dolphins and keep him and his team at the cove to stop this slaughtering until it is OVA!!
